A Walk Through Our Flower Farm

A Walk Through Our Flower Farm

Just a short drive from La Terre, our half-acre flower farm in Mequon is where Milwaukee Flower Co. has been growing seasonal flowers since 2020.

The garden is always changing. We grow a rotating selection of flowers throughout the season, choosing varieties based on what we love to design with and what our clients are looking for. From the first spring bulbs to summer blooms and the deeper colors of autumn, there is always something new coming into season.

Growing our own flowers gives us the opportunity to follow each variety from planting through harvest. We get to see how the flowers develop, learn their growing habits, and cut them at just the right moment for our designs. Some of those flowers make the short trip from the farm to La Terre, where they become part of a hand-tied bouquet, a custom arrangement, or are featured on our European Flower Bar.

We also keep sustainability in mind throughout the process. Flower waste from the farm and our floral work is composted, and we make thoughtful choices about how we grow and source our flowers.

Right now, the farm is shifting into autumn. The colors are getting deeper, the growing season is winding down, and the last blooms of the season are making their way into the shop.

This weekend, you can see what’s coming out of our farm alongside flowers from growers across Wisconsin during our Third Annual Local Flower Extravaganza, September 24-26. Stop by the shop to see what’s new, shop the cooler and European Flower Bar, and take home a little locally grown beauty.
