American Flowers Week is a celebration of the growers, farms, and communities that make American-grown flowers possible. It’s a reminder of the beauty that comes from flowers grown close to home and the hands that care for them every step of the way.
Started in 2015 and celebrated annually from June 28 through July 4, American Flowers Week shines a spotlight on American-grown flowers and the farmers, florists, and designers who bring them to life. It’s a celebration of seasonality, local agriculture, and the beauty of knowing where your flowers come from.
This week is always a wonderful celebration of our flower farm in Mequon as we continue to grow and supply the shop with flowers of our own. Our quarter-acre field is filled with snapdragons, delicate orlaya, upcoming dahlias, and many more seasonal blooms that will make their way from the farm to the shop. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching flowers grow from the ground up, hands in the dirt supporting their growth, and we can’t wait to share those with our community.
Additionally at La Terre, we purchase local flowers whenever and wherever we can. Throughout the growing season, we love partnering with nearby flower farms, bringing in blooms that reflect the beauty of Wisconsin and the Midwest. Working with local growers allows us to celebrate what’s naturally in season while supporting the people who make our flower community so special.
Every season brings something new. From delicate spring blooms to the abundance of summer and the rich textures of autumn, locally grown flowers remind us that nature was never meant to look the same all year long. We believe that’s part of what makes them so beautiful.
This American Flowers Week, we’re celebrating the growers who pour their time, talent, and care into every harvest. If you stop by the shop, you’ll likely find flowers from farms just down the road alongside beautiful blooms sourced from our trusted growers. It’s our way of bringing the very best of the season to the greater Milwaukee area, one bouquet and arrangement at a time.
